This week was National Convention week.  The time in which the delegates elected by American Baha’is across the country elect the National Spiritual Assembly of the United States.  For those of us working at the Baha’i National Center, this is our Super Bowl.

Sitting here today, I can honestly say that I feel TI-Red, both mentally and emotionally.  And I predict that I will be napping soon.

The  two major happenings that have really buttessed my spirit in these days is the success of the home visit initiative that I was a part of last weekend and the fact that I am in a marriage that is going well, not perfectly, but very well.  Perfection is a mirage, my friends, and I’m sure a lot of married couples realize this.  One thing that I emphasized to my friend Jeremy, is the fact that marriage is a WHOLE NEW BALLGAME, and how it should not be viewed as an extension of a courtship.  It’s different….period.

Going back to the home visits, I feel like I learned a new dynamic that I really never grasped before.  Simply stated, someone’s home is a place of safety which opens the gates to a deeply spiritual conversation.  With each of the home visits that were done, our only agenda was to study a prayer with the soul and let the conversation develop as it may.  I’m a strong believer that a slim agenda, pure intentions, and a humble attitude are the ingredients of a successful home visit.  It should always be kept in mind that it is an honor to be welcomed into someone’s home for an occasion such as home visit, so may we all act accordingly.

In other news, I found it to be ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL that our President felt it was necessary to release his Certificate of Live Birth on the internet.  I’m sure this move will satisfy his critics and quench their unbridled haterism (sarcasm alert).  It seems that our political discourse has gone from heavily contentious to depressingly childish.  I feel for all those who are strongly invested in any political party, because more and more going this route seems to lead those with pure intentions down the path of become a “plaything for the foolish”.

In closing, my prayers are with those individuals and families affected by the tornadoes that struck the South.  May our Heavenly Father bless and keep the innocent in heart.

Until next week,

KnuckleheadedRascal
